Beginner’s FREE Open Night 2023!

Open Night Spring 2023 Looking for a new, fun activity that’s indoors and not weather permitting? Beginner’s Skating is just the thing for you! If you’re interested in learning how to skate, come along to our free Open Night on Tuesday, 28th March ’23 in Kingfisher Club, Tramore Rd, Waterford @ 7:30pm!

Our league trains everyone over 18. Absolutely NO EXPERIENCE on skates required ♥ We’ll teach you everything from the very start. We weren’t born with wheels on our feet but some of us spent our childhood on skates and some of us NEVER wore a pair of skates but it’s never too late to give it a go!

So how about you take the chance and come along and have a look to see what exactly we do and maybe try on a pair of skates! We will have skates and protective gear for everyone to try on the night.

Summer Skate Skills for Absolute Beginners!

This summer, Southland Sirens will be running a 4 week Absolute Beginners Summer Skating skills programme to get you feeling confident on Roller Skates! The programme is for over 18s, all genders and for beginners who’ve always wanted to learn the basics of roller skating. This is the perfect opportunity to safely learn the skills required to take on the Waterford Greenway or any of the beautiful locations nearby!

Our classes are indoors in our fabulous training venue, Kingfisher Club on the Tramore Road and they’ll run every Thursday 7-9pm from 30th June for 4 weeks.

The programme will include the following skills and much more!
* Learning to stop (super important!)
* How to fall safely
* Basic Strides
* Weaving Left & Right
* Backwards Skating and lots more awesome skills!

PLEASE NOTE: All participants must wear full protective gear such as Helmet, Elbow Pads, Wrist Guards & Knee Pads (safety is our priority!) and skates must be Quad Roller Skates and not Inline Skates.

If you do not have your own skates & protective gear, we have a limited number of sets we can provide to you for the duration of the programme!

PRICE:
If you have your own skates & protective gear, it’s €40 for the full programme.

If you do not have skates & protective gear, it’s €50 for the full programme incl. loan of skates/gear

Finally, if you’re interested in participating in the programme, and will need skates & gear, send us a private message on our Facebook or Instagram pages or email southlandsirens@gmail.com with your shoe size and we’ll let you know if we have your size!

Our league has a Women’s team, Southland Sirens and a Men’s team, Southland Buccaneers, so we train both men & women over 18. Absolutely NO EXPERIENCE on skates required.

We’ll teach you everything from the very start. We weren’t born with wheels on our feet but some of us spent our childhood on skates and some of us NEVER wore a pair of skates but it’s never too late to give it a go!

So how about you take the chance and come along on the 18th and have a look to see what exactly we do and maybe try on a pair of skates!

Bring friends if you’re nervous to come on your own but we’re a welcoming bunch!

Keeping Fit in 2018!

dc0a3c27c2e6241f39a7595d65148d09 Summer is around the corner so why not start a completely new activity by learning to skate! Roller Derby is our sport but before any of that, you have to learn to skate.

We teach you everything you need to know from the very start with our Beginner’s Skating course. You don’t need any skating experience. Some of our current teammates never wore a pair of skates before their first night. You have to start somewhere so why not give it a go!

If you’re a bit nervous but curious about what we do, pop along to WIT Arena any Tuesday night from 8pm – 10pm if you want to have a look and maybe try on some skates before committing to anything.

We train men and women (18+) and our current members range in age from 20 to 55yrs so it’s a great place to have fun, make friends, keep fit and have a lot of laughs!

Lip Sync Battle – Fundraising Event

Southland Roller Derby are hosting a Lip Sync Battle fundraising event on Saturday, 3rd December 2016 in Mount Sion Social Centre, Waterford City. Doors open at 7:30 / Battle starts 8pm

25% of the proceeds on the night will be donated to Tintean Housing Association here in Waterford City.

Judges on the night will be Trish Archer from Beat 102 103, Waterford Actress Lynda Gough and former Waterford Rose Jacqui Watson.

It’s a night not to be missed so come along, have some fun and help the judges vote for your favourite act while raising funds for Southland Roller Derby & Tintean Housing Association!

Fundraiser: Pub Quiz @ Oskars

Southland Sirens Roller Derby are joining forced with The Shadows Inline Hockey Club to raise much needed funds for both our leagues.
